Hyperlocal: Dock to Dock, Neighbor to Neighbor

On Friday, June 13, MedCycle Network picked up 14 pallets of surplus medical supplies from MarinHealth and, within hours, delivered them directly as donations to three local clinics: Marin Community Clinics, Ritter Center, and Roots Community Health.

This marked the first official run of MedCycle Network’s new Dock to Dock initiative! We are very excited to announce our Dock to Dock model because hyperlocal distribution reduces delivery times, decreases environmental impact, and puts essential medical supplies into the hands of care providers faster.

A Local Solution with Global Benefits

By picking up donated high-quality surplus medical supplies from a local hospital and delivering to neighborhood clinics the same day, MedCycle Network is both protecting the planet and strengthening the local healthcare ecosystem.

Instead of transporting supplies to distant warehouses, these deliveries fulfill clinic-specific requests, minimizing fuel consumption and reducing carbon emissions. It’s a hyperlocal model that redistributes medical surplus locally and keeps surplus in the community—and harmful pollutants out of the air.

Every mile matters,” said Ernesto Olivares, MedCycle Network Co-Founder and COO. “The less time supplies spend on the road, the quicker they are available for patient care.

“Our partnership with MedCycle Network helps us get critical supplies to providers faster—so we can respond to patient needs in real time and deliver more compassionate, community-centered care,” said Brenda Shipp, Chief Executive Officer at Marin Community Clinics.

From Hospital to Healing—All in One Day

The June 13 shipment from MarinHealth included gloves, walkers, canes, crutches, and syringes—critical items requested by:

Marin Community Clinics, a network of nine neighborhood health centers providing medical, dental, and behavioral health care throughout the North Bay.

Ritter Center, a nonprofit offering dignity-centered health services, mental health support, and case management for unhoused individuals in San Rafael.

Roots Community Health, an Oakland-based provider whose Street Team Outreach Medical Program brings essential care to encampments and underserved neighborhoods.

Building a Stronger Local Health Ecosystem

MedCycle Network’s Dock to Dock model is more than a logistical upgrade—it’s a commitment to strengthening the local health ecosystem. By coordinating closely with hospitals like MarinHealth and trusted providers such as Marin Community Clinics, Ritter Center, and Roots Community Health, we’re shortening the distance between donation and delivery. That means fewer delays, fewer carbon emissions, and faster access to care for those who need it most.

It also means clinics can redirect precious time and resources to what matters most: caring for patients. With AI integration on the horizon, we’re poised to match supply with need even more quickly and precisely—saving clinics money and creating a truly responsive distribution network.

A First Step Toward a Bigger Vision

This delivery is just the beginning. As Dock to Dock expands, MedCycle Network will continue to build localized solutions that can scale. With the right partners, smart logistics, and a shared sense of purpose, we can transform how medical surplus is managed and by doing so strengthen communities, protect the planet, and expand access to care for our neighbors.

We’re grateful to MarinHealth for their generosity, and to our clinic partners for the essential work they do every day. Together, we’re proving that better systems are possible—they’re already taking shape, right here and right now.
